Information for clients
Every registered tax agent must give current and prospective clients the information below. It follows the Tax Practitioners Board's requirements under its Code of Professional Conduct.
Check our registration
The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) keeps a public register of registered tax and BAS agents. You can search it at tpb.gov.au/public-register, and read how to use it at tpb.gov.au/help-using-tpb-register.
Our registration: John Ayoub, registered tax agent, registration number 56198006. See John's entry on the TPB register.
How to make a complaint
If you're unhappy with a service we've provided, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the TPB in writing, using its online form at myprofile.tpb.gov.au/complaints. More about the TPB's complaints process is at tpb.gov.au/complaints.
Our obligations to you
As a registered tax agent, John must:
- act honestly and with integrity, and uphold the ethical standards of the tax profession
- act lawfully in your best interests and manage any conflicts of interest
- take reasonable care to understand your affairs and apply the tax laws correctly
- keep your information confidential unless there is a legal duty to disclose it
- provide services competently and keep proper records
- not knowingly obstruct the administration of the tax laws
- tell you about your rights and obligations under the tax laws
- account to you for any money or property held on trust for you
- not make false or misleading statements to the TPB or ATO, and address any he is responsible for
- keep you informed of the matters on this page, so you can make informed decisions
Your obligations
As a taxpayer, it's your responsibility to:
- be truthful in the information you give us
- keep the records you're required to keep and give them to us on time
- respond to our requests and meet the due dates we agree
- comply with the tax laws
If these obligations aren't met, the ATO can impose penalties and interest, recover debts and, in some cases, prosecute.
Other matters we must disclose
A registered tax agent must tell clients about certain events in the last five years, such as a suspended or terminated registration, bankruptcy, or a conviction for a serious tax offence or for fraud or dishonesty, and about any conditions on their registration. None of these events has occurred, and John's registration has no conditions.
